Welcome to Rocket League, lets get started! (a comprehensive guide)

Welcome to Rocket League

I want to welcome all new players to the world of Rocket League, a fast paced and physics based car soccer game that is super fun to play at any skill level.
To help you get started I’ve created a comprehensive guide to all things Rocket League. I’ll be going through everything you need from your first goal to becoming the highest rank in this game: Supersonic Legend.
The first step we’ll take is going through the games interface and explaining the basics of the game. Please take note that the latest update was just released and some things might be slightly different or net yet updated on any of the links I added.

Menu and Options

  1. This is the main menu, we’ll focus on Garage, Inventory, Play, Training and Options.
  2. Your banner, Avatar, Avatar border, [TEAM TAG], Profile name, XP level and XP progress bar.
  3. Rocket League news ticker with the latest news
  4. Rocket League Friends List and your RocketID (watch this explanation) *slightly outdated
 
Garage
One of the first things you’ll want to do is choose a car body and make it your own. You can do this in the Garage menu. There are a lot of ways for you to customize your car in Rocket League, there are different bodies, wheels, decals, boost, toppers, trails, antennas and more for you to create your own unique car setup. You can customize,manage and save your presets so you can quickly switch between them.
Choosing your first car body will probably be based on visual preference first, whichever one you think is the coolest looking car. When you get the hang of the basic controls you’ll want to try out other car bodies because they all feel a bit different. There are visual differences in car bodies but there are also 6 different hit boxes where the handling, height and length of the car is different. You’ll find that the difference between the Breakout and the Octane is much bigger than the difference between the Octane and the Road Hog. At the start the car body choice doesn’t matter that much, later on when you get better you’ll see that most players use the Octane or Dominus (or cars with those hit boxes). You can read more about car bodies and hit boxes at the bottom of this post.
 
Inventory
The more you play, the more items you collect via drops or through other means. With the inventory you can manage them although this is a very basic and still underdeveloped part of Rocket League. You can archive items or tag them as favorite, sort and filter on quality and attributes. Rocket League customization items are a world on it’s own with online fashion advice subreddits and a buzzing trade community. Play

There are six tabs in the Play menu: Casual, Competitive, Tournaments, Training, Extra modes and Custom games.
 
Casual
Casual is where you’ll start out in the beginning to play car soccer with friend or other players from your region. It’s all about quick games and having fun, you can join and leave mid-game without penalty but it’s appreciated when you stick around (even if you’re a goal down). Casual doesn’t have ranks but it does try to match you with players that are on the same skill level.
Competitive
Competitive is where it gets serious and you battle other players for MMR points and try to get a higher rank, you’re expected to really try your best to win the game for your team. You get a rank per playlist (1v1, 2v2, 3v3) so you can be Bronze in 1’s but Gold in 2’s. When you start out in Competitive you first have to play 10 placement matches before you see what rank you are. There is a option here called Arena Preferences where you get to like and dislike certain Arenas which makes it less likely or more likely you encounter them. I only use the global settings and don’t bother with a setting per playlist.
Tournaments
Tournaments are where you'll be able to compete in official Psyonix tournaments and win items or sign up for player generated tournaments. Tournaments have been recently revamped and you'll find more info on it from the official news item.
Training
Training is very important in Rocket League, it is the fastest way to improve at the game and get the hang of all the different mechanics. Starting out you’ll want to do the tutorial and the Goalie, Striker and Aerial training. When you’ve got some basic understanding on the core mechanics you can practise hitting the ball around in free-play or try out one of the many community made training packs. Same with the Rocket League items, there is a whole world out there on training, best practises and fastest ways to improve. I’ll expand on those in the FAQ, tutorial and guides section. But before you worry about that first be bad at the game, be bad and laugh your ass off at the hilarious situations you’ll be in with your teammates. Or you know… lose yourself in this list of training packs.
Extra modes
Extra modes are fun variations on Rocket League. Snow day is with a puck instead of a ball, Hoops is like basketball, Dropshot is a mode where you have to break the floor tiles to score and Rumble is like normal Rocket League but with cool power ups. Hoops is the only 2v2 mode, the others are all 3v3. Try them out as they all ask a slightly different set of skills.
Custom games
This is something you will want to check out especially when you are starting out in Rocket League.

Options

Ok time to go and look at all the settings you can play around with. I won’t go into too much detail because Pro players Squishy Muffinz and Scrub Killa have made really great videos on this where they walk you through all the settings and explain what they do so I can’t recommend that enough! Watch Squishy Muffinz and Watch Scrub Killa.
 
Gameplay
You can leave the most on default but the two of the most changed settings on this screen are
  • Text chat
Specify what kind of text chat you want, all, quickchat, team or off. Sometimes you’ll notice it can be relaxing to actually turn this off for a while.
  • Cross-platform play
My preference is to only play with players on the same platform (pc) because there is a slight difference in the kind of players you encounter. Also you can’t actually communicate with other platforms other than through quick chat so keep that in mind.
  • Game stat display level
Sometimes too much information can be annoying and distract you, find your personal preference.
 
Camera
Probably the most changed settings in Rocket League. The default settings are just plain wrong so make sure you adjust these to your personal preference as soon as possible. Starting out in Rocket League most players prefer to have sort of a birds eye view, high angle and distance. This setting is great for your awareness in game but do really hurt your precision when hitting the ball. It’s fine to start out with a higher distance and angle though but you’ll soon want to edge more towards the ‘pro settings’. I mean there’s a reason the pros use it. Don’t be afraid to adjust these settings throughout your time playing because your personal preferences might change over time.
 
  • Camera presets are not really used, wide angle is the only one that’s playable.
  • Camera shake is something you’ll want to turn off… OFF!
  • Field of view you can put on 110, this gives you the most awareness.
  • Distance is something you can play around with but remember that the further you are from your car the less precision you have when hitting the ball. Being to close to your car will hurt your awareness though so try and keep this between 260 and 310. Also keep in mind that the Stiffness also affects the distance (more stiffness = closer to your car).
  • Height should be anywhere from 90 to 120. Height and Angle affect each other so if you have a high angle you can have a lower height.
  • A high Angle gives you a better view on what’s behind the ball but can affect your ability to hit the ball in the right spot. Especially when you start air dribbling you’ll find that a higher angle is not to your advantage. Most players keep this between -3 and -5.
  • Stiffness can be anything from 0 to 1. Most players use between 0.35 and 0.75 but there are some that have it all the way to 1. More stiffness means that your camera is almost fixed to your car, less stiffness and you’ll notice that on low speeds you are close to your car and when you’re boosting the camera moves a bit further away.
  • Swivel speed is how fast your camera moves when looking around and
  • Transition speed is how quickly the screen transitions between car and ball cam.
  • Invert swivel inverts the swivel direction on your camera controls.
 
Controls
Here you can adjust controller sensitivity and deadzone but it’s better to leave this on default until you’re a bit more comfortable with the game and then experiment with sensitivity and deadzone.
 
Controller bindings
In Rocket League you can change all the controls bindings you want. The default bindings are not ideal but configuration of the controls is purely based on your own preferences. What I have changed is Powerslide and Airrol on L1, boost on R1, jump on X and ballcam on square just to make sure I have access to everything simultaneously. I will link you to a list of all the pro controllers settings so you can find a logical setup for yourself
 
Interface
There are a bunch of interface options you can adjust here which are mostly self-explanatory. I like to increase the nameplate scale to improve my view on the opponents and force default team colors because I’m old and don’t like change ;)
 
Video
  • Consoles
Video settings on consoles are purely cosmetic and dependent on personal preference, they do not really impact how the game runs on the console. If you think you can do without the weather effects then disable them. If you want to improve your experience on your console then I recommend connecting it to a monitor and making sure the console is connected to the internet via a wired connection instead of wireless.
  • PC
Choosing the right video settings on PC can make a huge difference though and with all the different setups it's important to make sure Rocket League runs as smooth as possible. There is so much to say about this that I'll just share some really interesting links with you guys. This ranges from simply optimizing the in-game setting to changing the .ini file and Windows graphics settings.
 
Audio
You might not realize this but sound has an important role in this game. Hearing opponents boosting or jumping can help your decision making on the field. It might all be overwhelming in the beginning but soon enough you'll notice you are reacting on sound cues rather than visual cues. So play around with the settings and try to minimize the sounds that are only distracting or unnecessary.
 
Chat
Quick chat is the only way to communicate cross-platform but is also super useful to quickly inform teammates or compliment them on a play. You can set up different quick chats in settings and some of them are really helpful in-game: I got it!, All yours, Centering!, Thanks!, Nice one!. Others seem really positive like Wow! and What a Save! but you'll soon learn that they will be used just as often when you make a mistake. Don't worry about that because even after playing this game for 2000 hours you will still make mistakes and people will still be salty about this. So don't worry about mistakes, they are part of the game. Toxic behavior shouldn't be though so don't be afraid to disable chat.
 

Starting the play

3, 2, 1, Go!

Now that you've got the right controls, video and camera settings you're ready to hit the Rocket League arenas and score some sick goals. First thing you'll want to do is just have some fun playing solo or with a team. Get a good feel for the game and score some bangers!
When you realize how much fun this game is and you want to climb the competitive ranks you'll want to improve as quickly as possible. The tutorials section below will help you out greatly, I've tried to create a list of the best content out there to help you improve quickly. Apart from the best settings and controls there is something far more important that you'll need: A positive mind set.
Before I leave you with all the great content below I want to give you one more bit of personal advice:
Be a good teammate and opponent.
We are all here to play a game and have fun, be positive, supportive and adjust to their playstyle as best you can. The more players do this the better the online experience will be and you're a part of that! Be forgiving of your own and other players' mistakes, you’ll all be making a lot of them so it’s going to be tiresome to get tilted all the time. Remember the human! They all have their own stuff to deal with, Rocket League might be a way for them to escape that so make it something where they feel welcome. We all get tilted sometimes and that is OK... it’s just in the way you handle that. When you realise you’re getting tilted take a step back and do something else, play a less tilting game or go outside and take a break. It will keep you from bombing your rank or getting banned.
If nothing else, be the teammate you’d want to play with. Good luck out there and see you on the field!

-Notables' power ratings were stabilising at 100 after some time, this is fixed and balanced.
-Default trade penalty (buy-sell price difference from average) is reduced to 8% from 10%.

-Imperial Sergeant Crossbowmen got their swords back.
-Fixed an issue related with automatic block direction option in which ranged attacks forced the player to stop holding their shield up.
-AI now needs to build more siege equipment before launching an assault. If attackers start a siege assault without any equipment or with only one ram/siege tower, the settlement will have a better advantage compared to previously.
-Siege preparation is now 33% longer.
-Item prices differentiate more among settlements so merchant players & caravans can make better profits.
-Fixed a crash that occurred if the player left an army while at a settlement.
-Fixed a bug that caused problems with health regeneration.

Aserai lands are re-rendered. slight changes in settlements placements for balance reasons. Change in some village productions for balance and lore reasons.
UI

--New Campaign Map Mobile Party Trackers:
---Now players can see and track(keep inside their screen) mobile parties of their clans and armies of their kingdom on the campaign map, while they're not in the spotting range.
--Encyclopedia Favourites:
---Now players can favourite encyclopedia items so these favourited items will be shown at the top of their respective lists.
--New Hideout Troop Management Screen:
---New popup for hideout troop management before hideout battles that will decrease deadtime waiting for the party screen to load.
--Players can now input numbers directly in Custom Battle sliders (army size, troop type percentage).
--Added a tooltip to the execution notification ("Execute Him/Her" button) to show the player, who they'll lose relation with.
---Added new Game Menu images for each cultures' settlement keep and arena menus.
-Fixes
--Fixed an issue that caused the inventory screen to close when the item preview popup is open. Now ESC closes the preview first.
--Fixed a bug that caused the governor selection panel to go out of bounds in some cases in town management popup.
--Fixed a bug that caused prisoners in party screen to show up with the main party's banner.
Battles and Sieges
-Added automatic captain assignment to formations without a captain.
--To use this feature, assign a formation to a companion from the party screen.
--Once a battle starts the first companion/hero that is assigned to a formation is picked as the captain of the formation (this also works for AI parties).
--Captains provide formation-wide perk bonuses to their troops.
--If a captain dies or flees, the next living companion/hero (if there are any) within the same formation is picked as the new captain.
-"Formation AI and Tactics overhaul"
--Troops with throwing weapons now have their own skirmisher category, they are no longer used as archers by the AI (which caused various problems).
--Horse archer formation behaviours improved to make them protect themselves and pull back better and not to get stuck between enemies.
--Archer formations moved around too much making AI armies far less effective than they could be, a lot of logic added to make them more stable.
--Army approaching enemy army to get in missile range logic overhauled to make it more effective and stable.
--AI now stops and lets its formations form up before continuing moving when it changes their arrangement such as to and from shield wall.
--AI Formations now recognise if most of their units have shields or not and accordingly chooses loose arrangement under missile fire instead of shield wall if they don't have shields.
--Chokepoints in battlefields are now used facing either side if it is appropriate.
--Various errors with the defensive ring tactic fixed, calculations improved, large circles are now being properly formed, square arrangement in the middle improved.
--Enemy army composition having more cavalry now confers a tactical advantage to defensiveness as attacking cavalry armies is more difficult.
--Single cavalry unit in a formation no longer messes up formation unit intervals and unit diameters which used to cause formations to stand with gaps regardless of arrangement.
--When a mixed unit formation is given a shield wall arrangement order, units with shields will move to the front ranks, switching places with soldiers without shields.
-Agents who stopped retreating because their side won the battle were causing glitchy continuous playing of running away shout sounds is fixed.
-Fixed friendly fire notification on the combat log.
Character Development System
-Aserai "Joined the Skirmishers" character creation option now grants relatively cheaper javelins.
-Some character creation choices were giving strong and expensive mid-tier armours. This is no longer the case.
-Added 13 combat-related Athletics perks.
-Added 10 campaign-related archery perks.
-Added 8 campaign-related crossbow perks.
-Characters' skills are generated from their traits when the character comes of age.
Clan and Party
-Some nobles were not spawning in a new game and nobles without a party were not going to another settlement to join tournaments. These issues are fixed now.
-Fixed a bug where fugitive family members could not be selected as a party leader.
-Fixed problems related to death.
-Companions teleported to a settlement of their culture when disbanded. They will now be teleported to a closer neutral or ally settlement if there are any nearby.
-AI Lords' traits determine the equipment template allocated to their offsprings during coming-of-age. Only a few templates are now assigned - there will be more variation in the future.
Kingdoms and Diplomacy
-Fixed the party size effect of Noble Retinues policy.
-Passive influence gains are tweaked further for balance. Some policies have increased penalties to match their positive effects.
-A miscalculation bug in Bailiff policy is fixed.
-Fixed a bug that caused minor factions to join kingdoms as vassals instead of mercenaries.
-Fixed a calculation error in kingdom tributes that lead to unintended tribute values.
Settlement Actions (Town, Village, Castle and Hideout)
-If a player is inside a fortification and if that fortification's map faction declares war on that player, a new menu will be shown to inform the player that they escaped from the fortification. If a player gains a crime rating in a mission and it leads to war, they will also see the menu after the mission ends, if they are not disguised.
-When players entered settlements sometimes it was auto-recruiting from notables. This was fixed.
Quests & Issues
-New Issue Quest "Inn and Out" added.
-Implemented the new Caravan Ambush quest.
-Balanced deserter and defender party sizes for Extortion by deserters quest. Added extra quest requirements.
-Fixed a bug that caused quest NPCs to not holster their weapons after the Family feud quest fight.
-Village issues will now affect the bound settlement's properties (Loyalty, Security etc.).
-Improvements were made to the issue and quest generation algorithm.

--Name: Port at Omor
---Theme: Main theme is a fishing and trading village at the outskirts of an old and established city. While one team starts from the channel that divides the city from the village, the other team starts at the opposite end of the village. Players will battle amongst trade yards, shipyards, warehouses, taverns, and statues left behind by old inhabitants of the land.
Combat Changes
-Melee Combat:
--Defend speed has been increased drastically. (So blocking is a lot more responsive now.)
--Ready speed has been increased. (So your weapon goes faster into the attack position.)
--Release speed has been decreased. (So your weapon swing/thrusts is slower now.)
--Quick attacks now skip more processes of the animation. (Removes some of the delay at the start of quick attacks.)
--Adjusted the crush through formula:
---It will be easier to crush through with high force weapons now.
---Made it so that Two-Handed Mace crush through way more consistently than other types.
---Couch lance attacks can now crush through blocks. (Singleplayer Only)
-Made defender stuns longer when being struck/hit.
-Made defender stuns less dependent on weapon weights.
-Removed stance bonuses to stuns.
-Made attacker stuns shorter after blocked attacks.

-Decreased accuracy of throwing weapons when held for a long time. (Similar to bows.)
-Slightly increased the release time of throwing weapons.
-Made bows a bit less accurate when released instantly (This won't affect AI too much. Will make it harder (but not impossible) for players to hit feet or around shields.)
-Multiplayer Only:
--Made bows inaccurate earlier when drawn out for a time. (This will make it make the window of perfect accuracy smaller. Early Accuracy will be slightly better if the bow was readied before.)

Mounted Combat + Movement
-Couch lance engage animation is slightly longer now.
-Couch lance angle to right side has been decreased.
-Lowered speed and angle requirement for mounts to trigger the “hit object” animation.
-Horses now rear up when riding into objects to hard.
-Increased speed requirement for horses to charge characters. (This will make it harder to bump run over characters. There will be more bumps than run overs now. This will require better infantry coordination to take advantage of cavalry charges.)
-Decreased the damage threshold for being able to rear mounts.
-Mounts can now be reared from a wider angle by spears.
-Multiplayer Only:
--Classes with lower riding skill will now perform worse on horseback (less manoeuvrability and less speed).

Game Modes
-Siege Mode Improvements:
--Alongside many stability improvements, we are also adding objective-based gold gaining to Siege game mode. In addition to defeating enemies to gain gold, players will be able to gain gold by helping their team complete objectives. Attackers will gain extra gold for pushing the siege engines, breaking down doors and siege engines and breaching walls. While defenders gain gold by destroying siege engines and weapons. Each player will be compensated for their total contribution when the objective is achieved.
New Features
-Clan System:
--Players now can create a clan with their party. Six player party is needed to create a clan. Players can create their clan from the Clan tab in the lobby with the “Create a Clan” button. This button then opens a popup. In this popup, the party leader can decide on the name, tag, faction and sigil of the clan. The name and the sigil can be decided only once and it has to be unique, but the faction and the sigil can be changed any time by the leader of that clan. Upon pressing the create button, every other member of the party gets notified asking them if they want to join the clan. If all of them agree, a new clan is created.
--A clan can have a description and many announcements. These can be found on the clan’s home page. The clan leader can set a description for the clan. This description can be used to tell what that clan is all about. The leader can also post announcements or news for the entire clan. When members of the clan visit the clan tab in the lobby, they can get informed about the latest news and announcements about the clan.
-Clan Matches:
--A party of six players all belonging to the same clan can create a game by selecting game type, map and factions. Other parties that satisfy the same conditions can see a list consisting of these games and select one to join. If the creator party accepts this join request, a server is allocated for them and they duke it out. After the match, winner teams clan gets 1 win, loser teams clan gets 1 loss added to their clan stats.
-Clan Roster:
--In this page, members of the clan can see all the players that are in the same clan as them. They can then invite their clanmates to their party, add other clan members as friends and if they are the leader of the clan, they can also kick members from the clan or make them the new leader.
-Clan Leaderboard:
--A score is calculated for each clan using their win and loss numbers. Then they are sorted based on this score. Any player belonging to a clan can visit the Leaderboard page in the clan tab to see the rankings of all clans in the game. As we improve the Clan System, a Rating system will be added to more accurately reflect clan strength and other types of Leaderboards will be introduced for Clans and their members.
-Spear Bracing:
--Only possible with lances and pikes. Pressing ‘X’ key once while stopped, activates the bracing. Attacking, defending, crouching, jumping and running actions cancels the bracing. Players can only walk slowly while bracing is active. Please note that the damage values are still yet to be balanced.
UI
-Added some explanatory hints in the MP lobby.
-Fixed an error at the context menu in the Recent Games tab.
-Non-leader members of parties can now suggest their friends to their party leaders to be invited.
Announcement About Beta Servers
-Beta servers do not share any data with Live servers. Which means no data will be transferred from Live to Beta or Beta to Live.
-US, EU and EA will get all the usual servers and services.
-There will be a single server on Oceania to allow players to test new combat changes.
-Beta servers connect to a testing server and because of that Lobby servers will not use SSL connection.
-Clans that are created WILL be carried over to main!

-Beautified animations related to mounting/dismounting horses, and falling from horses by blending the animations between switches and considering the scale differences of the horses.
-Adjusted parameters of rotating in place animations, and made them slightly better.

Combat
-Horses will now panic and run away properly when they are hit in battles.
-The best accuracy moment of ranged weapons was moved further back, making quick shots a bit more inaccurate.

Welcome to version 1.2!
Those of you, following us on the forums, twitter and Discord might already have seen a few of the additions, update 1.2 will add to the game. But as this patch has been growing a bit more into an intermediate version, there is a lot more to be found. Some additions might only seem to be visual changes, like the new Asteroid rings (which are now visible from planets as well) and other entries of the changelog below might sound like technical shenanigans, but both will prepare some of the groundwork we will iterate on for this years ‘Christmas update’.

While you venture through the world of v1.2, also mind the new behavior and attacks of the ‘Otyugh’ land predator, check the loot boxes closely for a new fire-spitting weapon and enjoy all the new POIs.
A note for builders: In case your structure or vessel suddenly loses oxygen, check your slant, half and irregular blocks, tilted windows and other elements that worked to ‘seal off’ an area before! The O2 distribution is now calculated on 0.5m scale and will be able to fill in and pass through tighter areas!Check out all the changes and additions in the changelog below!

  • Renamed the new asteroid rings around planets from AsteroidFieldRing to AsteroidRingPlanet, keeping the old AsteroidFieldRing instance
  • GrassV2: better check for abrupt steep slopes
  • Asteroids Rings: adjusted ring texture slightly, supporting now color grading (in yaml specify either "color1" or "color1 - color2"), visible from planet, playfield server now generates correct colliders around all players
  • Asteroids Rings: bigger size, allow to specify the color in the playfield.yaml under Properties, default color is grey

Fixed a problem with animation sampling.
Fixed a bug that caused the player to get captured, lose all troops and companions despite a successful battle.
Both player and the bandit camp boss were forced to start the duel or battle without a wielded weapon. Now the boss wields the weapon when the dialogue is over and the player holds his weapon in his hands if he had already had one.
Removed the dismounting feature from spear blade parts. Dismounting can now only be applied with spear guard pieces.
Various problems with companion and lord deaths were resolved. (Parties that lost their party leader in special circumstances should not become stuck. Clan party creation & clan role assignment should not be locked if a companion party leader dies. A number of crashes were handled.) This fix does not resolve the issue in already broken save games.
Fixed a crash that occurred if the player failed at romance bartering.

Character Development System

Added 18 combat-related archery skill perks. This completes the archery skill perk tree.

Added stewardship experience gain for heroes that have been assigned as governors.
Opening Face Generator screen with 'V' is re-enabled in the main map. But the hair and beard options are limited to a few simple ones. For haircuts, the Barber NPC can be visited at any town center.

Fixed a bug that allowed marriage to be proposed for dead heroes.

Settlement Actions (Town, Village, Castle and Hideout)

Fixed a bug that caused settlement tooltips to display the number of ransomed prisoners incorrectly.
Fixed a bug that caused the wrong menu to appear after the player selected an aggressive action in the conversation with an army member.

Quests & Issues

New quest "The Art of The Deal" added.

Fixed a bug that led to the bandit party in a caravan ambush quest to stay stationary after battle.
Disabled dying chance for Radagos and brother. Added a 30 years time limit to the first phase of the storyline.
Fixed a bug where Radagos' hideout could not be created properly.
Fixed issues that caused Radagos to be dead in his hideout or other bandit bosses to appear.
Fixed a bug that caused the player's death to cancel the Neretzes' Folly quest.
Added scaling influence costs for the Lord Solutions of the quests “Lady's Knight Out”, “Overpriced Raw Materials” and “Extortion by a Robber Knight”.
“Nearby Bandit Base” quest can now be taken only from villages.
Some text and dialogue improvements for "Army Needs Supplies" quest.
If a player is waiting inside the “Army of Poachers” quest settlement, the quest menu will be opened automatically when poachers arrive at the village.
Fixed a bug that caused the “Deliver the Herd” quest to become impossible to complete.

Conversations & Encounters

Added a few new dialogues and comments for guards and other NPCs.
If a player is waiting in a village and the village gets raided by someone, the player will be directed to an encounter menu which allows them to join the raid - either by helping the village or helping the attackers.

Other

There was a visual bug showing butter in inventories as unavailable while players were within settlements. Butter is once again allowed within cities.
Steppe Marauders and Raiders are now assigned as Horse Archers.
Rhomphalias now use "Bent Razor Head" as their blade.
Khan's Guard units now have an additional set of arrows instead of their one-handed mace.
Ridged Short Gladius Blade (Battania_blade_2) can not be used as a two handed sword anymore. The blade itself was too short as the name implies.
Blunt Arrows have issues with inconsistent damage. It won’t be possible to purchase them for the time being.
Infantry can now dismount mounted enemies with hooked guarded spears. Battanian Oathsworn and Picked Warrior are the troops with this feature. Spear Guards with Dismount feature are: Double Huge Hooks With Fur Covering, Double Hooks, Weighted Long Thorns, Singular Hook Wing, Double Hook Wings and Double Thorn Wings.
You can now use new heroes for custom battles. Heroes with couch lances, long bows and more are available for your custom battles.
Disabled wounded character animations in inappropriate situations.
Added cheat commands to change settlement loyalty, security, militia and prosperity.
When entering a village, your companions now use battle outfits instead of civilian outfits.
Fixed a bug which made hideouts belong to the player faction.
Improved crash logging for the dump system.
Fixed a bug that caused some settlements' security value to be NaN.
Lords hall character agent spawning algorithm improvements. The settlement's owner will spawn on the throne but if the kingdom's ruler is inside the settlement, the ruler will override it.

Multiplayer

Design & Balance

Fixed a bug where inaccuracy for shooting/throwing wasn’t applied on horseback.
Reduced the maximum inaccuracy for throwing weapons.
Adjusted the movement inaccuracy for archers and made it more consistent between MP and SP.

Map Related

Visual improvements all around on the new skirmish scene, Port at Omor. Atmosphere was changed, because it was hard to see Aserai troops on the scene. Bug fixes for physics issues and problems with getting stuck.
Echerion
Blocked the gallery (but not stairs) of flag C.
Added railings to stairs at C to indicate where they can be jumped off from.
Made stairs faster to traverse for cavalry and infantry.
Some small detail work.
Baravenos Encirclement
Added a new breach to the G flag.
Overhauled the G Flag.
Moved a lot of defender spawns.
Added some new destructible wooden structures.
Made some of the current structures destructible.
Adjustments to lighting.
Some detail work (replaced old trees, improved terrain for low settings, physics fixes etc.).

Other - Miscellaneous

Fixed some troops appearing too old.
Auto team selection button will put the player into the team with a low amount of players.

Fixed a crash that occurred after changing the graphics settings.

Missing camel rider falling animations added.

Fixed a bug that caused battering rams to not deliver damage.

Hi Galactic Survivalists!
Welcome to version 1.2 EXPERIMENTAL!
Those of you, following us on the forums, twitter and Discord might already have seen a few of the additions, update 1.2 will add to the game. But as this patch has been growing a bit more into an intermediate version, there is a lot more to be found. Some additions might only seem to be visual changes, like the new Asteroid rings (which are now visible from planets as well) and other entries of the changelog below might sound like technical shenanigans, but both will prepare some of the groundwork we will iterate on for this years ‘Christmas update’.

While you venture through the world of v1.2, also mind the new behavior and attacks of the ‘Otyugh’ land predator, check the loot boxes closely for a new fire-spitting weapon and enjoy all the new POIs.
A note for builders: In case your structure or vessel suddenly loses oxygen, check your slant, half and irregular blocks, tilted windows and other elements that worked to ‘seal off’ an area before! The O2 distribution is now calculated on 0.5m scale and will be able to fill in and pass through tighter areas!

Patch 2020-28-09 v1.2 (B3124)
Changes:
  • Asteroids Rings: adjusted ring texture slightly, supporting now color grading (in yaml specifiy either "color1" or "color1 color2"), visible from planet (position is still wrong!), playfield server now generates correct colliders around all players
  • Asteroids Rings: bigger size, allow to specify the color in the playfield.yaml under Properties, default color is grey
  • AsteroidRings: slightly higher distance to planet of inner ring, taking two random colors if nothing specified in yaml
  • AsteroidRings: desaturized random ring colors a bit, increased visible near distance of dust from 50m to 150m, improved fade in of asteroids
  • AsteroidRings: tinting asteroids according to ring color, asteroids got a bit bigger to avoid vessels getting stuck on colliding
  • AsteroidRings: increased visible near distance of dust even more from 150m to 200m, asteroids get now position above or below dust to not cut into it, higher visible distance for smaller asteroids
  • MP: structure updates are now sent every 3s instead of only 5s to show f.e. shield update state in MP faster

Some changed i though of.

I like the game and i been playing it for a while now. I thought of some changes that could benefit the game maybe.
  1. Chaos stones. They are hard to comby once you finished story on hardcore and even events doesnt give around 500 maybe. I say let the daily LB and other quests that has daily quests renew their stones so you could get a little more then 10 daily and 30 weekly.
  2. I find 3 stages a bit boring there should be 10 stage quests or endless giving a endgame quests that everyone could set a record instead of the only endgame undead.
  3. Obviously guild and chat option. Doing the undead in multiplayer is impossible becouse everyone uses auto play and the emoticons are very basic.
  4. In multiplayer i suggest a option for host to turn down autoplay or on just higher quests. Or ateaat an emote for telling others to play without it just for this quest. I cant really blame autoplayers becouse it is really grindy game but why is always (i dont know fully name i call it purification shalltear) in mp they use spell even if target has less then 1k hp. 5.i think multiplayer should give xp for characters if you join room.
  5. Some stats i dont understand such as aim when a relic gives that.
  6. Also i belive speed gives your characters a order to attack but sometimes its random.
  7. Support and heal spells should be cast even so if all enemies died before the turn ends. In my opinion other then undead quests theres no reason to use these spells becouse other then heal it doesnt give game changing buffs/debuffs and attacking instead is better option then casting support spells.
  8. In mulitplayer if you join a room theres no character select which is annoying to exit room and change party.
Thats i got so far ill post another one if i missed something. And some side thoughts. Stones are way to expensive 30 dollar for 10 summon. You could see with warframe giving players discounts and being not that expensive options to spend it. Maybe impliment trading. So you could trade stones and characters, relics. Also characters feel way to boring even some 5 stars having lightning and magic arrow and venom very recycled abilities and not many good tanks.

Training With Elena UoC Rundown/Suggestions

SAVE TIME! TL;DR:

The Rundown

Emperor Shera

Unit: W-cast DR chainbot. He has limited support mainly from fire imbue to allies + himself and a 100% fire resist AoE buff with very bad ATK/MAG buff numbers. He can also give 40% general mitigation for all allies with his LB for 2 turns, which I'm sure was impressive at some point in the past.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR:

Chosen One (materia)
Increase fire resistance (20%)
Increase ATK (35%) when equipped with a sword
Increase ATK (15%) and HP (10%) when equipped with light armor
Not terrible for places where you need both Fire resistance and some ATK on your Damage dealer, both swords and light armor are pretty common. But overall it's still too restrictive and not a worthwhile investment in the modern meta.
I rate it 2/5.

STMR:

Emperor's Ring (accessory)
DEF+30, SPR+30
Fire Resistance +50%
Increase HP (40%)
Increase SPR (30%) when equipped with a light shield
Increase DEF (30%) when equipped with a heavy shield
This STMR, man. It's AMAZING for tanks, but it's also slot efficient enough to be used by other roles that need some extra bulk, specially for Fire Resistance needs.
Just glorious. 5/5.

Dark Knight Cecil

Unit: One of the worst damage dealers possible. Also quite suicidal.
Usefulness: 0.001/5

TMR:

Deathbringer (Great Sword)
ATK+120
Dark Element
50% physical human killer
Old, bad stats. The human killer is the only saving grace of this but there are so many better ways to get killers from...
I rate it 1/5.

STMR:

Dark Sword Arts(materia)
Increase ATK (30%)
Increase equipment ATK (100%) and accuracy (25%) when single wielding a one-handed weapon
It's not even TDH, just plain old useless DH.
I rate it 1/5.

Pure Summoner Rydia

Unit: really old and bad evoke damage dealer. She can fill the esper gauge, I guess.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Pure-bred Summoner (materia)
Increase MAG (40%) and SPR (20%)
Increase EVO MAG (10%)
Generic MAG materia with a plus. The plus is a SPR boost which is often welcome on mages. Honestly, it's not terrible, but these 40% boosts are generally considered too weak for most players nowadays.
I rate it 2/5.

STMR:

Rydia's Headband (hat)
DEF+24, MAG+52, SPR+38
Increase EVO MAG (20%)
Increase esper's bonus stats (10%)
Stats are below average, but it's a rare source of EVO MAG in the head slot, so there's bound to be some use at some point.
I rate it 2/5.
EDIT: Thanks to the folks that pointed it out that this is a great hat for the upcoming powerhouse NV Terra. I still think this is a bit too niche so I won't be changing the my personal rating.

Atoning Dragoon Kain

Unit: Third rate Chainer with a fourth rate kit.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Dragoon Helmet (helm) ATK+40, DEF+28 Resistance: Water (+20%), Wind (+20%)
Pretty solid ATK and DEF for headgear, and the elemental resistances are also nice. But nothing spectacular about it.
I rate it 3/5.

STMR

Kain's Lance ATK+168, HP +15% Increase jump damage (+50%)
Dragoons are bad. Even if they were good, the only thing Kain's lance has to offer is a bit extra bulk, but if you're jumping you shouldn't need to worry about this too much. For damage, this is worse than the F2P Kihmari STMR, and also worse than Araneas TMR. So, yeah...
I rate it 1/5.
EDIT: This weapon happens to be really strong for NVA King Edgar that is only released in JPN right now. He's a very powerful jump finisher so if you're planning to get him, it might be a good idea to consider Kain's Lance. I don't know if this is Best In Slot, I don't even know how good NVA King Edgar is, I just trust the people that told me he's VERY strong. This won't change how I rate this STMR because I really don't think investing this much for a single unit is a good idea, but you do you.

Mercenary Ramza

Unit: Ancient physical tank with bad breaks.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR:

Japa Mala (accessory) +3 DEF HP +20%, MP +20%, ATK +20%, MAG +20%
Lol no.
I rate it 1/5.

STMR:

Reverie Shield (FFT) (shield) DEF+92, SPR+84, DEF +20%, SPR +20%
The stats on this are pretty good, and it works well as a generic shield. The issue is that between provoke/evade/elemental resistance/death immunity, the shield slot is usually very contested for your tank and it's not very common to want to use a generic option.
I rate it 2/5.

Knight Delita

Unit: A very impractical LB breaker with mediocre on demand options
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Grand Armor DEF+72, SPR+28, HP +15%
Surprisingly strong armor for a TMR, offering a lot of generic bulk that can be useful for pretty much anyone that can equip it.
I rate it 3/5.

STMR

Dark Aspirations(materia)
Increase HP/ATK/DEF (30%)
Increase physical damage against humans (50%)
A bit of this, a bit of that. Honestly good materia against humans for attackers with a fair middle ground between bulk and damage.
I rate it 3/5

Prishe

Unit: Hey that's my first 6 stars! That can't be a good sign...
She's a bulky support that can't really support with anything remarkable at all. Who needs a NINE TURNS duration reraise?
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Prishe's Hairpin (hat) ATK+45, HP +10%, MP +10%
This is a very simple TMR to give your ATK oriented damage dealers. It'll probably never be the very best choice, but it's great, and as the meta slowly evolves to 6 Damage Dealers, having more hats to gear them is not bad!
I rate it 4/5.

STMR

Godhands (Fists)
ATK +171
Special ability: Physical damage (3x) with ignore DEF (50%) to one enemy Decrease fire, water, wind, and earth resistance (50%) for 3 turns to one enemy Inflict disease (100%) to one enemy
It's really bad.
I rate it 1/5.

Noctis

Unit: Once upon a time, he was great. Now he is not.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Ring of the Lucii (accessory)
MAG+3, SPR+3, ATK +30%, MAG +30%
Enables Alterna (Magic damage (5.1x) with ignore SPR (25%) to all enemies), and Death (Inflict death (30%) to one enemy Dark magic damage (0.8x) as HP drain (30%) to one enemy)
+25% physical evasion, with 25% chance to counter with Holy (Light magic damage (1.2x) to one enemy Restore MP (15) to caster)
To this day this is an amazing accessory. People will use it for the evasion builds, but it's also not terrible for hybrid attackers. It definitely has seen better days as some of the trial bosses nowadays counter the Holy counter with an even more powerful counter.
I rate it 5/5.

STMR

Hexatheon's Revelation (materia)
Increase HP/MP/ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR (20%)
Increase fire, ice, lightning, water, wind, and earth resistance (20%)
Increase LB gauge (2) per turn
The jack of all trades. This materia is mostly useful for filling LB gauge and capping elemental resistances. The stats on it are pretty bad.
I rate it 3/5.

Nyx

Unit: Support unit that can fill up allies LB gauge by sacrificing himself.
Usefulness: 1/5

TMR

Guard of the Future (materia) Increase ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR (20%) Recover MP (5%) per turn Auto-heal (60 HP, 1.2x) per turn
No matter which of these stats you're looking to put in your unit, there will pretty much always be a better F2P materia than this one. Very hard to recommend.

STMR

Nyx's Dagger (short sword)
ATK+158, DEF+50, HP +20%
Fire element.
All elemental resistances +20%.
Between the HP, DEF and resistances this weird STMR ends up being a very good weapon for tanks. That being said, it's glory days are gone and now we have some very real competition with the dodge STMRs of Vaan and MMXon. Nyx's still has a niche of elemental resistance and the awesome extra HP, which is still nice.
I rate it 4/5.
